1. how much does the cutter cost?

the actual price for the cutterhead, the mechanics and the electronics is chf 9100 excluding shipping costs and vat.
9000 sfr. is approx. 6000 euro, approx 6600 us$ or  4300 gb£.

please note that we will start production after we received 50% of the full inoice amount (chf 4550) only. you will get an invoice after you placed your order. furthermore, please note that we will deliver the cutter after you payed the 2nd half of the invoiced amount.

2. is the cutter available?

yes, the cutter is available. we assembly on order only. mounting and testing will take max 3 weeks after we received your 1st payment.

3. where to see a vinylum dubcutter?

the cutter can be seen at vinylium switzerland. contact us by email and we will arrange an appointment.

4. what is the frequency range?

from 20hz up to 18'000 hz.

5. what is the maximum cutting level?

you can cut approx. +4db above NAB standart level (5cm/s). with some experience you can go up to +6 and +8 db.

6. how many times can i play a acetate (dubplate)?

it strongly depends on the cardridge you use and the needle pressure. we recommend Shure M44-6 or Stanton 680. with a shure M44-6 you can play back the plates more than 100 times.
don't use ortofon concorde. they destroy any plate and even vinylrecord within short time. (dubplates can be played approx. 30-40 times with concorde only!)

7. do i need any extra equipment for the cutter?

in general you just need your technics 1200/1210 turntable and any sound source (cd player, computer, tape, minidisc, mp3 player).
for highest performance we recomended to add a parametric eq, compressor and deesser....ask us for detail information.

8. how long does the stylus last?

a saphire stylus lasts 10-15 hours of cutting time. a new stylus costs approx. us$65.-

9. what kind of a  stylus do i need and where do i order?

for best durability and cuts into vinyllike material please choose the vinylium diammon stylus. you can get saphir stylus at transco (www.transcousa.com) model 320 Neumann type or apollo (http://www.apollomasters.com/products.html) type nsh-2s (3 mil tip).

10. where do i get the blank plates?

transco (http://www.transcousa.com/lds.html) 10" and 12"
apollo (www.apollomasters.com) 10" and 12"
buy dub quality only: this is exactly what you need.

11. what about warranty?

we give a one year warranty on the VC200 electronics and the mechanic overhead.
the cutterhead is covered by a 3 month warranty which doesn't include burnt coils due to excessive levels.
